| Description: |
One can reach it via land via a tunnel that leads
to a provincial road, built by the Romans and used as a port-refuge known as
"diva-luna". It is 3,4 miles from the Port Via Guardia ( a 34 mins. Walk ).The
sun is present from 10:00 am until the sunset. The crest of the rock reaches
a maximum hight of 10 metres. On the peak there is a necropolis (Guarini area)
of the Roman era with graves ( 5 ) dug in the rock, unfortunately most of them
have been destroyed.
In the Napoletan dialect "chiaia" means beach. The name Chiaia di Luna is suggested
by the half moon shape of the beach and by the white rock that lies at its 2
extremeties.
