One can reach it by land, and is 2,1 miles from the Port, therefore a 21 minute walk. The sun sets here at 8:00 am until 3:00 pm approx. Once doubled the coast, on the left hand side one can see the "Scarrupata" with the mulesack that leads to the lighthouse right infront, the Faraglioni del Calzone Muto. The entrance which leads to the lighthouse is closed.
To the South of Punta della Guardia, approx. 13 miles, begins the deepest trench of the meditteranean (3,730 metres). In 1952 Jacques Picard reached for the first time, in the sea of Ponza, 3150 metres in 2 hours and 15 minutes with the bathyscaph "Trieste", assisted by the corvet "Fenice".
